This work is born from an internal exploration, and represents a vision of the world that we live in now. A mixture as complex as the human being: full of emotions, addictions and contradictions, of a society that is increasingly drifting.
My work is about the addictions that we human beings have; That range from substances, behaviors and emotions. And reflects and opposite concepts to make people realize that maybe they aren’t opposite after all. Although addictions are a very complex issue,
we could say that they start as a way to avoid the dissatisfaction of the reality in which we find ourselves, and search for instant gratification, entering a loop in which we lose the most important thing we have, ourselves.
My goal is that people reflect on this issue with a opposite and kind concept and begin a journey of self-knowledge in which they can identify their ‘emptiness’ and decipher what is behind these addictions, so that they aren't making themselves feel better in the wrong ways. Because perhaps from a craving to smoke, there is a need to breathe. In the search for pleasure feeling, there is a great emptiness of love. Or in the search for acceptance in society, what is needed is to accept ourselves as we really are.
Contradiction consists of a series of 11 pieces, worked on using different techniques, ranging from the brush with acrylic paint, through to the stencil, to pieces built in a volumetric way, in which I try to touch upon themes such as lust, gambling, money, drugs, emotions, behaviors among other addictions.
